Mercury Compounds in Hep B Vaccine Also Pose Danger

Re: 'What about the mercury? The federal energy plan glossed over how to dispose of fluorescents'
Interesting article about the government looking at ways of disposing of the new compact
fluorescent light bulbs because of the mercury content. Too bad they weren't as interested in the
mercury compounds in our children's vaccinations. For example, the Hepatitis B vaccine contains
enough mercury for one 275-pound man to safely absorb it. Ten years ago, the numbers of children
with autism was only one for every 2,500. Now it is one for every 166.
The problem lies with the mercury contained in the fluorescent bulbs. If waste disposal impacts
our environment with four or five milligrams of mercury per bulb, what are our children? What
waste disposal ingredients are we disposing of in our children's bodies?
Ron Pushchak, a professor with Ryerson University's School of Occupational Health and Safety,
said even though there are only four or five milligrams of mercury in the bulbs, it is still a
neurotoxin and hazardous.
Pushchak, who studies waste disposal and environmental impacts, said more often than not, light
bulbs are broken when they're tossed out with the trash. Therefore, what is the government doing
for the children of our future -- tossing them out with the trash?
